Contextual Sections for The Prince
In order for a reader to be able to understand The Prince on a deeper level, our group researched and collected material regarding five different context sections that give a brief overview on some fields of study related to The Prince and Machiavelli. Jacob Copley analyzed the history of war in Italy during Machiavelli’s life. Yosef Ibitayo examined the way in which Machiavelli depicted Cesare Borgia, particularly in Chapter VII, and the way in which Machiavelli ridiculed Cesare for his actions. Caroline Mahavier explored Machiavelli’s political life in relation to The Prince. Carmen Saleme delved into the history of satire and its Roman origins. Finally, Carlo Vanz detailed the influence of The Prince and the public’s response to it.
